The following is an email sent to James from Shaun describing his setup:
Hey James, Shaun from wmm here. The run-down on my pedals is as follows:
First, a boss stage tuner, then a Hendrix wah(I like the lower sweep it has
compared to a crybaby), then an Ibanez tube screamer, into a danecho delay,
followed by a boomerang phrase sampler, and finally a line 6 modulation
pedal for leslie speaker sounds and weird effects. These days I'm going into
one 59 reissue fender bassman and one pro junior. My real secret weapon is
our soundman, Jon beckett who blends the sound from both amps out front.
Funny thing is, no matter what a player plays through, so much of it is in
how you hold your hands, how hard you grip the pick, where it is over the
neck. Hope this answered your question. Bye.
Sorry, but at the time we created this page, a picture of
Jon Beckett was unavailable.
The following is an email sent to James regarding Earl's setup:
It's earl here, well...i keep my gear pretty simple because it's not the gear
that makes you sound good it's in your fingers and soul.. having said that,
i just got a new rig for touring...david eden world series head-swr 4-10 and
1-18-baby fender dingwall custom basses no effects pedals other than a bass
chorus but i'm in the midst of trying new funky toys...
As far as favourite
players go...here's my short
list......... james jamerson, charles mingus, tony levin, sting, mccartney,
john paul jones, mesheel n'degeocello, juan nelson, rocco prestia, sly
dunbar, family man, andrew levy, larry graham...the list goes on...hope this
answers your q's.
Safwan's Gear
The following is an email sent to James Hummel regarding Saf's Setup:
Oh yeah, the favourite drummers...I have a lot, I think there's so many
different roles one can play as a drummer, and I tend to like understated
groove-oriented playing. Manu Katche is a master of that. Also, Steve Gadd,
Bernard Purdie, and Steve Ferrone. As far as monster chops: Dennis
Chambers, Carter Beauford, and Dave Weckl. I also love Elvin Jones, Mike
Bland, Buddy Miles, Carlie Barrett, Sly
Dunbar, etc. There really are too many to name.
